WHDZ sees steady Jan-May economic growth

Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, capital of Hubei province, saw steady economic growth from January to May, according to a meeting regarding the zone’s economic performance on June 8.

The major economic indicators such as industrial output value, industrial added value, industrial investment, and urban construction investment in the zone all maintained steady growth.

Data revealed that in the first five months, the zone’s output value of industrial enterprises above designated size –– with annual main business income exceeding 20 million yuan ($3.12 million) –– reached 139.72 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.9 percent.

Investment in fixed assets was 31.64 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 12.2 percent, and investment in urban construction projects was 8.54 billion yuan, accounting for 40.1 percent of the annual target.

The zone received industrial investment of around 17.5 billion yuan during the relevant period –– year-on-year growth of 6 percent.

Since the beginning of this year, WHDZ has focused on the work of investment promotion. 

At present, 119 projects with total investment of 233.2 billion yuan are proceeding in the zone. Among them, construction work on 21 projects with investment of 70.88 billion yuan has already started.
