Updated: 2018-06-06

The 2018 World Robot Contest Finals will be held in Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ), Wuhan, central China’s Hubei province, from July 26 to 29, according to a press conference held on June 5 in WHDZ.

More than 30 competitions in four different categories will be carried out, covering areas including humanoid robots, robots on wheels, and educational robots.

Around 5,000 competitors will participate in the event, including more than 10 teams from countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, such as Israel and Russia.

Winning teams and individuals in the finals will be qualified to compete in the 2018 World Robot Contest International Championships, which is to be held in Beijing from August 15 to 19.

As part of the World Robot Conference, which is cohosted by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, China Association of Science and Technology, and Beijing Municipal People's Government, the World Robot Contest is an international event and the country’s highest-level and most professional robot competition.

Last year, WHDZ hosted the World Robot Contest –– RoboCom Adolescence Challenge National Finals. This year’s event will boost development of the zone’s robotics and artificial intelligence industries.
